Moving Tips

The following are Uncle Sugar's Moving Company's Top 10 tips for making your move easier:

Plan ahead!!!

Have all of your paperwork and valuables in a place designated “off limits” so you know where they are and they are not packed on the truck.

Pack all essentials in a box marked “load last – unload first” or use your suitcases. Items such as sheets, blankets and toiletries will be looked for first.

Move vehicles from driveway that would impede truck placement.

Have a designated “box storage” place, not by doors or in walkways.

Make sure all boxes are closed and secured.

Have all boxes clearly marked.

Use wardrobe boxes. They are perfect for moving from closet to closet and have room on the bottom for shoes and other accessories.

Having beds torn down and units with pieces disconnected will save the movers time and you money. (Uncle Sugar’s will do this at your request)

After you move allow time for electrical item to warm to room temperature BEFORE plugging them in.

*Special notice to waterbed owners -- be sure to allow enough time for draining of bed (usually 2 to 3 hours).
